I.D.E.A., manufacturer of the Bright Emergency Backup Power Units, is located in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina in Flat Rock, NC, 45 minutes from Greenville, SC and 45 minutes from Asheville, NC. Providing the technology that is cutting edge for renewable products and coupling it with the wood craftsmanship for which the area is known, we believe that the Appalachian Mountains are where technology and craftsmanship meet.

The Bright Backup Power Units were developed out of necessity and manufactured to provide a comfort level to others that was not previously available.

Our vision is to make attractive backup power that blends with home furnishings, requires little human intervention and will assist in main-streaming renewable energy power systems. The company produces a high end, aesthetically pleasing emergency backup power unit that is invisible as a power system and is used inside the home. It requires no harmful fuels.

IDEA is both the manufacturer and the retailer of these innovative products. The products bridge the users of “grid power” (power received into your home from your local electrical power company) to “renewable power” as the units have the capability of recharging with a solar panel.

The K-4200 and HMU-2100 units start providing power automatically when grid power goes down. When the grid power is back up the units will recharge. The Solar Panel gives the customer the option of prolonging the battery life and gives the customer a non-risky look at the benefits of using renewable energies.

We stand behind our products and have created customer service policies that go above and beyond, including a technical staff that can support a 24 hour technical help line.

The backup power unit is the result of the expansion of Robert J. Baird III’s design of a portable solar powered generator, and the vision of Cyndylou Baird for convenience and style in renewable energy products.

Cyndylou B. Baird is the CEO and the visionary of the organization. She holds a Masters degree in Entrepreneurship from Western Carolina University and a Bachelors degree from Appalachian State University in Business Technology.

Robert J. Baird III has a 22 year background in electronics with 17 years in computer repair, 10 years teaching experience at the University level and 10 years in renewable energy. He has operated his own renewable energy company which designed and installed renewable energy systems for the home and businesses. Mr. Baird is a graduate of Appalachian State University and has received advance training in the field of renewable energy. Mr. Baird’s position in the company is that of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Our company runs efficiently with our Chief Operations Officer, Jerome R. Brand, Jr. Mr. Brand is retired from the United States Navy (Active Duty USN - 20 years, Operations Desert Storm, Desert Shield) and has extensive experience in operations. His knowledge extends into the fields of mechanics, electrical, trained with HAZMAT, and OSHA standards with regards to storage, handling, transportation, MSDS, emergency procedures, and respiratory precautions. Mr. Brand has numerous education courses in the areas of leadership and management.
